Bob Burgess

Burgess was a surprise selection to make his All Blacks debut at first five-eighth against the British and Irish Lions in 1971. It came just one year after he declined a spot on the All Blacks' tour to South Africa in 1970 as a protest of South Africa's apatheid system. Burgess was in his element playing attacking rugby. He played 24 games for Manawatu.
