Te Rure cleared of serious injury

Jade Te Rure has been cleared of a serious knee injury and is expected to be cleared to line up for the Turbos in week one of the Mitre 10 Cup.

The first five-eighth went down injured during the first half of the Turbos' preseason match against Tasman in Porirua on Friday.

The 25-year-old was initially feared to be set for an extented stint on the sideline.

But scans this week have cleared him of serious injury.

He is not available for the side's final preseason match against Hawke's Bay in Napier on Friday, but is expected to be cleared in time for the Turbos' season opener against Waikato in Palmerston North on August 18.

Te Rure's scan results provided some timely good news for the side, who are already missing Ben Wyness (season) and Otere Black (week 3) for the start of the campaign.

Te Rure has played 29 games for Manawatu.
