The Manawatū Turbos have locked in a pair of local halfbacks in Griffin Culver and Logan Henry.
The duo will be key contributors at halfback, locking up two of the final three spots in the squad.
Culver was once again a key contributor with the Hankins Shield winning Feilding Yellows.
His service from the base of the ruck and allround game impressed coach Peter Russell.
His performance in the club final was particularly strong.
Culver debuted for the Turbos in 2019 serving as the backup to Jamie Booth in his first season out of Feilding High School.
After initially missing the Turbos squad in 2020, he was called in as injury cover in the back-end of the year.
He has seven provincial games to his name.
Henry was a top performer for Feilding Old Boys-Ōroua this year.
The 24-year-old moved to Manawatū at the start of the year to try and earn his way into the Turbos.
Having been a regular standout for Petone in Wellington, Henry shone for Feilding Old Boys-Ōroua.
His versatility sets him apart from the pack with his ability to cover hafback, first five-eighth and even wing along with being a handy goalkicker.
Henry played secondary schools rugby for Hutt International Boys’ School and has been knocking on the door of provincial frugby for a number of years.
Henry and Culver narrowly beat out other local contenders for the halfback berths in Varsity’s Bryn Wilson and College Old Boys’ Ben Stephens
