Palmerston North fans to get first look at Turbos

Manawatu fans will get a first-hand look of potential Turbos players after confirmation that their annual preseason match against Hawke’s Bay will be played at the Sport and Rugby Institute in Palmerston North.

The Turbos revealed their preseason schedule last month, but the venue for the Evergreens-Saracens fixture on Wednesday, July 4 had yet to be set.

The match will be played under lights, kicking off at 6pm.

The Evergreens v Saracens match has been a regular early preseason match on both the Turbos and Magpies’ schedule each year.

While Super Rugby players will be unavailable, it provides a chance for some of the wider training squad members to play alongside regular Turbos and prove their ability at the next level.

The match is one of four on the Turbos preseason schedule.

They also have a game-of-three-halves against Bay of Plenty and Wanganui in Taihape, Tasman in Porirua and Hawke’s Bay in Napier.

The Turbos’ Mitre 10 Cup campaign kicks off on August 18 when they host Waikato at CET Arena.
